5 - The Dauphine Short - Construction / Lower Front and Pocket Options

Sew piece 3 - the lower front to piece 2.

When both legs are sewn, press well.

Piece 7 - the front pocket, has a pleated center, which is marked on the pattern as shown. The seam allowance is 5/8โ€ around all three edges, and 1.5โ€ on the top fold. Line and interface if your fabric is lighter.

Place your pleat, and fold all the seam allowances under, before running a stitch as shown at the top of the pocket.

Pin the pocket to the skirt following the guide on the pattern and topstitch both sides and the bottom edge.

There are two straight front pocket flaps. Piece 10 is the main pocket, and piece 11 is the lining - it is slightly smaller and designed for turn of cloth.

Fold the seam allowance under and stitch both sides and the bottom edge.

Line the angled flap on the pocket to the center pleat and sew along the top edge. There is about a 1/2โ€ between the pocket top and the flap.

We have included two pocket options for the front skirt - piece 8 is a smaller, angled pocket with 5/8โ€ seams along the sides and bottom, and a fold over over 1.5โ€ at the top.

The small fold on the left hand side, can be trimmed if your fabric is bulky.

Sew the top edge down.

We have included two pocket flaps. Piece 12 is the main pocket, and piece 13 is the lining. Again, it is slightly smaller, and designed for turn of cloth.

Fold the seam allowance under, and sew the two sides and the bottom edges as before.

Add the flap to the skirt, following the guide and stitch along the top.
