The Boheme Fit and Flare - Sleeves / Two Piece
The two piece sleeve -Pieces 14 and 15.
This is the most fitted sleeve in the collection, designed by creating a deep inner curve, which helps the sleeve hug and shape the arm. It is very comfortable and flattering.
I always suggest when using this sleeve in a class that students size up and that a muslin is made as the wrist width is narrow when passing over the hand, but lovely once on.
This is a inset sleeve with no ease - if your fabric is thick or very stable, size up, to avoid stretching the sleeve and grain when sewing to the armseye.
Here you can see the beautifully deep shaping curve.
Pin and sew the longest edge of 14 to 15 -the seam allowance is 5/8β
To join the deep curve, start by pinning the top and bottom of the sleeve. The seam on 14 is slightly shorter than 15, and will need some easing. Sewing with a 5/8β seam allowance.
The sleeve fits exactly into the bodice if no adjustments have been made, again, I would highly recommend sizing up and making a muslin first.
I found when attaching the sleeve to the bodice, that the heavily starched muslin was unforgiving, an extra half an inch or more at the armseye would have made it easier to fit and sew. A fabric with some stretch would make the process much quicker.
That being said, itβs my favorite sleeve and I do think the extra time is well worth it.
